"I have undergone joint replacement surgeries on both hips and one knee. All surgeries were performed within two years and the operating physician was Edvin Sevander."

I went to the doctor because pain was starting to become a big part of my life. My quality of life had really deteriorated. It was difficult to get up from sitting down because of the pain. Putting on socks and shoes became difficult. Driving a car became difficult because lifting my foot from the clutch to the gas pedal caused severe pain. I couldn't do sports anymore and my muscle strength was declining. My hips were popping and my glutes and hamstrings were sore. My life was just about getting through workdays and pain. The last thing was losing sleep at night. I couldn't sleep anymore because the pain was so severe and constant that changing positions didn't help.

I didn't get any real help from occupational health care. Sick leave didn't improve my symptoms, although I managed to get through each day with the help of painkillers. Back problems were initially suspected to be the cause of the pain. I only got real help when Edvin Sevander, a competent doctor, looked at my X-rays and I was rushed to have my first hip replacement surgery. After each surgery I had, my quality of life improved. The pain subsided and I started to manage without painkillers. Immediately after the surgeries, the scars were painful, naturally, and good painkillers helped with that. After the knee surgery, my knee was stiffer than before, so the post-operative instructions were worth their weight in gold.

Rehabilitation after each surgery required a lot of motivation to get better. My attitude was the most important thing. I exercised according to the instructions without tearing or straining myself too quickly right after the surgeries. I didn't go to the gym, but pedaled at home on an exercise bike, worked out with dumbbells and did a 15-minute workout in the morning and evening, twice a day. I followed the instructions I received conscientiously.

Today I enjoy my life without pain or painkillers. I go to work, exercise in nature, and sleep well at night.

Tips for those suffering from the same problems:

  • Seeking treatment quickly prevents the body from stiffening and muscle weakness.
  • Go to a doctor in Mikkeli at the private Edvin Sevander clinic, which will allow you to immediately undergo examinations and, if necessary, get into the hospital's surgery queue.
  • Back pain can also be caused by the hip.
  • The first symptom of hip problems may simply be thigh pain.
